Welcome to Part 1 of the Stellar Compass Vedic Astrology Masterclass. To understand the cosmos, we must first understand the canvas upon which the planets paint our destiny. In Jyotish, this canvas is called the Rashi Chakra (the zodiac wheel), divided into 12 equal segments known as Rashis (Signs).
The Nature of a Rashi
A Rashi is not just a personality type; it is an environment. Think of a Rashi as a specific terrain. A fiery sign like Aries is a battlefield, while a watery sign like Cancer is a nurturing home. When a planet enters a Rashi, it must operate according to the rules of that terrain.
Each Rashi is defined by three main attributes: its Lord (the planet that owns it), its Tattva (Element), and its Modality (behavior).
