The Nakshatras: The 27 Gates of the Soul

While the 12 zodiac signs are the broad strokes of an astrological portrait, the 27 Nakshatras (Lunar Mansions) are the microscopic details that make you unique.
In Vedic Astrology, the Moon stays in one Nakshatra for approximately 24 hours. These constellations were used by ancient rishis long before the 12-sign zodiac was popularized. They represent the "fixed" backdrop of the stars against which the planets dance.
The Moon's Personal Path
Each Nakshatra is ruled by a planet and a specific deity (Devata), which gives it a distinct flavor. For example:
- Ashwini: Ruled by Ketu and the Ashwini Kumaras (celestial physicians). It signifies speed, healing, and new beginnings.
- Rohini: Ruled by the Moon and Prajapati. It signifies beauty, creativity, and the power of manifestation.
- Magha: Ruled by Ketu and the Pitris (ancestors). It signifies royal authority, legacy, and ancestral pride.
Why Nakshatras are Critical
In Vedic Astrology, your entire "Vimshottari Dasha" (life timeline) is calculated based on the exact degree of the Moon in its Nakshatra at the moment of your birth. Without knowing your Nakshatra, we cannot accurately predict *when* major events will happen in your life. It is the bridge between the celestial mechanics and your personal experience of time.
