Ashtakavarga Mathematical Grid Vedic Astrology

Ashtakavarga is a point-based numerical system in Vedic Astrology that provides a mathematical foundation for predicting the strength and timing of planetary transits.

One of the most common criticisms of astrology is its perceived subjectivity. Ashtakavarga is the Vedic response to this—a rigorous, point-based system that quantifies the strength of every house and planet in your chart. "Ashta" means eight, and "Varga" means division.

How Ashtakavarga Predicts Your Fortune

Ashtakavarga uses a 'Bindu' (point) system from 0 to 8 for each planet to determine if a house in your chart is energetically supportive or challenging.

Most people worry when they hear that Saturn or Jupiter is moving into a "bad" house. However, an expert using Ashtakavarga will look at the Bindu score. If Saturn is moving through your 8th house but that house has a high Bindu score (e.g., 30+ points), the transit will actually bring growth and discipline.

Understanding SAV Scores

The Sarvashtakavarga (SAV) score represents the total auspicious points for a specific house; a score above 28 indicates a strong, successful area of life.

SAV Bindu Score Interpretation
Below 20 Significant effort required; results may be delayed or challenging.
20 to 25 Average results; standard effort brings standard outcomes.
28 to 33 Strong results; support from the environment and smooth progress.
35 and Above Exceptional fortune; significant gains and ease in this area of life.
